My Journey from Cancer, to Near Death, to True Healing

In this truly inspirational memoir, Anita Moorjani relates how, after fighting cancer for almost four years, her body-overwhelmed by the malignant cells spreading throughout her system-began shutting down. As her organs failed, she entered into an extraordinary near-death experience where she realized her inherent worth . . . and the actual cause of her disease. Upon regaining consciousness, Anita found that her condition had improved so rapidly that she was able to be released from the hospital within weeks . . . without a trace of cancer in her body!

Within these pages, Anita recounts stories of her childhood in Hong Kong, her challenge to establish her career and find true love, as well as how she eventually ended up in that hospital bed where she defied all medical knowledge.

As part of a traditional Hindu family residing in a largely Chinese and British society, she had been pushed and pulled by cultural and religious customs since she had been a little girl. After years of struggling to forge her own path while trying to meet everyone else's expectations, she had the realization, as a result of her epiphany on the other side, that she had the power to heal herself . . . and that there are miracles in the Universe that she had never even imagined. InDying to Be Me, Anita freely shares all she has learned about illness, healing, fear, "being love," and the true magnificence of each and every human being!

This is a book that definitely makes the case that we are spiritual beings having a human experience . . . and that we are all One!

Anita Moorjani was born in Singapore of Indian parents, moved to Hong Kong at the age of two, and has lived in Hong Kong most of her life. Because of her background and British education, she is multilingual and grew up speaking English, Cantonese, and an Indian dialect simultaneously; she later learned French at school. Anita had been working in the corporate world for many years before being diagnosed with cancer in April 2002. Her fascinating and moving near-death experience in early 2006 tremendously changed her perspective on life, and her work is now ingrained with the depths and insights she gained while in the other realm.
As a result of her near-death experience, Anita is often invited to speak at conferences and events around the globe to share her insights. She is also a frequent guest at The University of Hong Kong’s department of behavioral sciences, speaking on topics such as dealing with terminal illness, facing death, and the psychology of spiritual beliefs. She is the embodiment of the truth that we all have the inner power and wisdom to overcome even life’s most adverse situations, as she’s the living proof of this possibility. Anita currently lives in Hong Kong with her husband, and when she’s not traveling and speaking at conferences, she works as an intercultural consultant for multinational corporations based in the city. Dying to be Me is one of those rare books that has had such a profound affect on me that it actually changed my life! I have been a student of the NDE for over 30 years...ever since reading Raymond Moody's book, Life After Life. I have also been both a translator of NDEs in Spanish and Portuguese as well as a research associate with the Near Death Experience Research Foundation and have read literally thousands of NDE accounts. Despite all this background and exposure to near-death accounts, when I first came across Anita Moorjani's amazing story, I was positively electrified by her experience and by the power, clarity and insight into all she saw and experienced while in the NDE state! Her articulate, brilliant command of English and the subtleties of meaning, went far beyond how most NDE accounts are expressed. Coming from a multi-cultural, multi-lingual woman of Indian heritage who grew up in the cosmopolitan environment of Hong Kong, I was transfixed by her story and read it over and over again. I know I will continue to read it now in book form for years to come...

Anita tells us of growing up in Hong Kong and of learning English while attending British schools, while simultaneously being exposed to the language and culture of her Indian parents and the native Cantonese of the surrounding Chinese culture. She explains how this rich tapestry of contrasting values, created both positive and negative experiences and how conflicts arouse within her which later manifested as cancer. She tells us how, after nearly 4 years of fighting her lymphoma, she went into a coma and merged with an expanded, absolutely magnificent dimension of self awareness that showed her the causes of her illness, reconnected her with deceased loved ones, and indicated to her that if she returned to this life, she would have a rapid recovery from the cancer and would be able to give to the world a powerful message of unconditional acceptance and love for self and others.

Dying to be Me is an amazing story of hope against the fear of dying, of illness and...ultimately...of living. It offers an enormously positive vision of what lies beyond this earthly life...and how we can live now with a more generous and open appreciation for all we experience here. I am excited and honored to recommend this miraculous book to all who seek greater understanding and insight into our world here...and the world beyond. I hope everyone will read this amazing account with an open heart and be as enriched as I have been by what Anita experiencxed through her death and return to this earthly life.
