I attended a conference with Karen and she used this music to lead the group and it turned out to be a real experience with the music and not just a listening time. The words are so meaningful that the more you listen to them, the more meaning they have. I bought 4 of her other CD's and love them all. I play them at home and in my car and it's soothing to the soul!

Karen Drucker is an artist, but she is also a force to be reckoned with. An achiever who has conquered everything she set out to do, Drucker has made waves in every aspect of her life. She has a passion for daunting tasks and seems to tackle anything presented to her with a success that makes it look effortless, including being on the first American women‚s relay team to successfully cross the English Channel, publishing a book, biking for AIDS research, walking to support breast cancer research, releasing 11 records, or getting booked as a musical comedian. Drucker has excelled. Each experience seems to have made her even more persistent, but also made her aware of the forces within her that drove her to success. She has spent the majority of her career dedicated to, quite literally, singing praises of love, femininity, and spirituality.
Songs of the Spirit I, her 2001 album, was the one to kick off the subsequent slew of records. She has penned a collection of nondenominational chants that have all the familiarity of a favorite campfire melody but all the power of a song sung by a church choir. Drucker manages to contemporize words of praise by adding fresh modern melodies to age-old sentiments. She opens with the exotically flavored "Oh Mother God", as gentle flamenco guitars and tablas add a taste of worldliness to her rich, soulful vocals for a unifying number that will resonate across the globe, especially with women.
Drucker‚s music preaches love of both external spiritual sources as much as it does the self. On „How Could Anyone Ever Tell You, she embraces vintage soul and hints of gospel to create a mantra that can be sung to any loved one feeling less than whole. The album closes with "Loving Kindness", a track appropriately reminiscent of a lullaby. Gentle feminine voices swell in unison to back Drucker‚s mellifluous, compassionate voice. The song is a prayer for all ages, but has a soft twinkling quality to it that makes it especially good for children, to inspire a nurturing and loving upbringing.
